Established in 1877 by Sir William Henry Gregory, Colombo National Museum is an excellent example of European era architecture. Here on display are masks, puppet and crown jewels of the last king of Kandy. It also features a National Museum Library, exhibits publications printed over the last 133 years. There are also manuscripts on various topics like astrology and folklore written on palm leaf. Within the premises, there's also a National Museum of Natural History Colombo, the only museum in the country with different forms of nature.
